Synthetic Progesterone Linked to Increased Risk of Brain Cancer
Birth control pill or hormone therapy might be hiding a serious risk. A groundbreaking French study 1 has uncovered alarming links between certain synthetic progesterone medications and an increased risk of brain tumors. Specifically, the research focused on intracranial meningiomas — tumors that develop in the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. While typically benign, these tumors can cause debilitating symptoms and often require surgical intervention.
